God is…

This is essentially what the Hobby Lobby and Conestoga Wood Specialties case is currently up to the SCOTUS to decide. A couple who’ve been running a guest house in England have put their seven bedroom house up for sale. Why? The problem was two men who were apparent homosexuals wanted to use a room in their guest house for presumably homosexual intentions, and the couple owning the guest house are Christians. Their Christian morals won’t allow them to compromise use of their guest house by unmarried couples, let alone homosexual couples.

Watch the video above and find that there is a brief exchange between the woman owner of the house and the female interviewer. In this interview, this short segment should stir resentment in any self respecting Christian believer. At about 4:28 into the video the owner begins a statement saying, “God demands…”, and the female interviewer quickly interrupts her by saying, “Your God demands…” The woman owner continues her statement as she began, ignoring the interviewer’s editorial comment. Consider this in light of a segment previous to this where the male interviewer makes some unwitting statements about the character and nature of God.

I’m married to a wonderful woman. I know her in a way which no one else on the earth knows her. I know her quirks, her charms, her failings and her goodness. Anyone could misconstrue her intentions if they didn’t know her as I do. People have a knowledge which leads to truth or error.

The same applies to the knowledge of God and His Son. In the same way, there are those who think they know God, but have only a passing acquaintance. They make their conclusions based upon incomplete knowledge, and attempt to define God based upon those conclusions. Then to say, “Your God demands…” reveals their error.

It’s not “your”, “their”, “our” or even “my” God. It’s THE GOD. It’s the One and only. Christians should remember that. There is only One. In Exodus, it should’ve been called the 11 Commandments because at the First God declares, “I am the Lord thy God…” God is the I AM.

About elmoshangnaster

The name's a dodge simply because 1) on the internet I can be whomever I choose, and 2) I'm just paranoid enough to keep scoundrels and government out of my business and don't care to sort 'em out from the decent folk. My blog, my opinions. Don't like 'em? Sure, kindly tell me about your far-fetched, idiotic beliefs...kindly. In the end we'll neither of us change the others mind, but I will take the time to read your arguments if they're thought out in a rational fashion and not full of hyperbole. I'm a Christian human being. It's not a flavor or color preference, it's who and what I am. Don't like it? The above considerations apply. I'm not about to waste anyone's time or mine shoving Christianity down their gullet if they demonstrate even the least resistance. When someone's ready to hear I'm only too glad to share. The Gravatar? It's Jenny Lake in the Tetons near Jackson, WY. If God had a house that's where it would be.
